Roddy Chong is a remarkably accomplished Asian American violinist and speaker known for his high-energy performances with Celine Dion, Shania Twain, and (currently) Trans-Siberian Orchestra. He is considered to be one of the world’s premier violinists. He has performed and given his speaking presentations for audiences around the world – including the President of the United States, the Queen of England, the Pope, Oprah, Bono, and many other notable figures.
However, Roddy’s real resume begins much closer to the heart — in the pursuit of accelerated life performance, a mission to help others push the boundaries of potential, and infusing the highest levels of energy into corporate gatherings.
By intertwining artistic abilities, creativity, and a passionate attitude with the intellect, Roddy has crystallized a speaking experience that has never been witnessed before.
As Roddy's performances in music progressed, so did opportunities for him to share the lessons he had learned along the way. He not only found himself touring with Shania Twain and Celine Dion at the same time, but he also became an inspirational speaker, with violin in hand, who consistently received standing ovations from every type of audience. His high-energy performance style and straightforward "show them that you want it" attitude that won him favor in the music industry also caught the attention of corporate leaders who were looking for something extraordinary for their company gatherings.
Leveraging a long personal history of "beating the odds". Roddy’s early career exposed him to
the real meaning of determination. Typical rock bands weren’t posting jobs for Asian violin players and country music wasn’t exactly recruiting either. Yet, Roddy pushed. As he climbed over each hurdle, he soon found that his unique presence was, in fact, the selling point and through his dedication to mastery - let the biggest artists in music know that he was passionate about their projects.
Roddy still actively proves his expertise in performing effectively, by touring as the violinist for the epic rock band: Trans-Siberian Orchestra - doing an astounding 60 arena shows every winter. Roddy spends the other three seasons speaking to organizations, executive teams, employee groups, and conference audiences around the world.
Roddy Chong graduated with a B.A. in Telecommunications and African American Studies from Indiana University and does ongoing performance training at the Baron Brown Studio in Santa Monica, CA. He lives in Los Angeles, CA.
Roddy’s first sip of coffee was served to him by Howard Schultz, via French press, in his office at Starbucks Headquarters in Seattle, WA. Before this, he had always ordered hot chocolate.
Next to Shania Twain, Roddy Chong performed for the Queen of England at Hyde Park in London. Also in the audience was the rock band, “Queen” (Brian May and Roger Taylor).
The largest audience that Roddy has ever performed for was Two Million people at Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany for New Year’s Eve with Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Roddy started playing violin at two years old.
Roddy gives back by routinely speaking and performing at various prisons for
“Discipleship Unlimited” - which supports incarcerated women in Texas and assists them with reentry into society.
